We are on a quest to find Geelong’s best home baker.

Enter your signature sweet treat for the chance to be crowned Central Geelong’s Bake Off Champion, win great prizes and earn bragging rights for life.

Dive into a world of culinary creativity and present us with treats to get the judges’ taste buds tingling.

With five exciting categories including, two kid’s categories, indulgent cupcakes, crunchy biscuits and delicious slices (including raw and vegan), get ready to wow us!

For the more creative bakers, take things to the next level with Barwon Water’s “Water” category where you can showcase the versatility of water as either the hero ingredient or the method in creating your sweet treats. The more creative the better.

Water Category Hints & Tips

  • Use your imagination to make Water the hero.
  • Use your favourite water-based recipe.
  • What about a Hot Water Sponge Cake or replacing milk with water in a recipe so that it becomes suitable for vegans?
  • How about boiling or steaming your baked goods or cooking them in a water bath?
  • Or why not let your creativity flow and decorate your bake using water as the theme.

    Terms & Conditions

    Rules for Participants:

    1. Baked goods will need to be delivered to Westfield Geelong Centre Court between 10 and 10.30am on Saturday 25th. Judging will commence from approximately 10.45am.
    2. Winners will be announced from 12pm and the winner must be present at the time of announcement to collect their prize.
    3. If perishable products are used please ensure they are refrigerated before transport.
    4. Items are to be home-made from scratch – no packet mixes or repackaged goods or are to be included. Pre-packaged decorations ARE however allowed in the Water Based Category.
    5. You are not eligible to enter and will be disqualified if you are or ever have been a food professional, such as a chef, food writer, culinary specialist or educator, or someone who creates baked goods for payment.
    6. Cakes must be labelled with a cake name, your name and a contact phone number.
    7. If entering the cupcake/biscuit category, a minimum of 6 cupcakes/biscuits should be presented.
    8. If entering the slice category (including raw/vegan), a minimum of 6 pieces of slice should be presented.
    9. If entering either of the kids categories, a minimum of 6 pieces should be presented, or a cake of full size of no less than 20cm square or round
    10. If entering the “Water” category, a minimum of 6 water-based pieces should be presented, or a cake of full size of no less than 20cm square or round.
    11. Entrants must declare that their entry has been baked and decorated entirely by the named entrant on the online booking form.
    12. Judging will be on taste, presentation and creativity. Where two entries are close, preference will be shown to the entry with the best flavour.
    13. Items must be presented on a plate, tray or container that will be returned to you at the end of the competition (we are aiming for a zero-waste event). No responsibility can be taken for any breakages, so please don’t use anything too precious.
    14. As you are baking, please take care in preparation and keep hands clean, use only clean dry cutting boards, equipment and utensils.
    15. Store cakes and packaging supplies in safe and clean conditions before the event.
    16. Ensure the cakes are transported in clean containers with close-fitting lids.
    17. Use tongs or other utensils to transfer goods to plates or other presentation container.
    18. Entrants can pick up uneaten baked goods and containers at the conclusion of the event at Westfield Geelong Centre Court on 25th March 2023.
    19. Please provide full recipe (preferably typed) listing all ingredients with measurements, instructions, method (particularly important for the Water Category) and baking times. Winning recipes may be published.
    20. The Judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
    21. Participants can enter more than once, however can only win one category.
    22. There is no fee to enter the competition.
